Hostas come in a wide range of sizes and as you go through our listing you will see a letter in parenthesis after the name which denotes the height of the plant…the ledger below will help to convert this to inches.

[mini]=dwarf 3-6”    [S]=small 6-12”    [M]=medium 12-24”    [L]=large 24-36”

ABBA DABBA DO [L] This sport of the ever-popular H. 'Sun Power' boasts sturdy, large, pointed green leaves with a bright yellow edge that widens with age. The clump emerges all green, then the edge becomes evident quickly thereafter. H. 'Abba Dabba Do' has the vigor and same growth habit as H. 'Sun Power' to 5'+ wide, and tolerates plenty of sun. The clump is topped with light lavender flowers in summer...destined to become a classic.

ABIQUA DRINKING GOURD [L] A very popular large blue hosta...puckered round leaves are deeply cupped. This plant has incredible texture and nice white flowers, very choice!

ARCTIC CIRCLE [L] The blue-green pointed leaves are lightly stippled in the center when young and greening out as they age. They have a dramatic cream margin extending down the petioles. Soft lavender blooms.

BANANA BOAT [M] Hosta 'Banana Boat' a very unique hosta on the smaller side of medium. Rounded and elongated leaves have a bright yellow centre and dark green margins. They are cupped like a "boat" and have a leathery substance with a slight sheen. Attractive violet flowers. Medium mound size at maturity.

CALYPSO [S] Long pointed leaves with dark green outside and white centres with purple flowers. Small mound size at maturity.

CATHERINE LEWIS [M] A sport of H. 'Halcyon' with Blue green changing to golden centred leaves with a blue green edge..  Pale lavender flowers. Holds coloring well and performs well in sun.

CHANTILLY LACE [M] Streaks of Gold on Blue-Green Leaves. The foliage is rippled and slightly twisted, with a creamy yellow edge. Chantilly Lace combines blue-green foliage with a pale yellow edging and random streaks of bold gold on every leaf. Introduced in 1988 and never bettered, this undulating-leafed Hosta is the focal point of any display in shade garden or container.

CHERRY BERRY [S] This Lachman introduction draws raves from anyone who has the ability to rave. The narrow, dark green leaves with a wide white streak down the middle make a spectacular small clump to 15" wide. In midsummer, the violet flowers open atop a red spotted scape to 28". It grows best when planted in morning sun.

CLIMAX [L] This new Gil Jones introduction is a sport of the dramatic H. 'High Noon'. Instead of having all-gold leaves, however, H. 'Climax' has heavily corrugated green leaves, each with a 1" wide golden border. Each large 4'+ clump has the same vase-shaped habit of H. 'High Noon'. In late spring, this specimen hosta is topped with 32" scapes of light lavender flowers....a superb specimen plant! CLIMAX [L]

CREPE SOUL [mini] (Naylor Creek Nursery) An introduction of ours that is a seedling from an open pollinated streaked H. 'Crepe Suzette'...this mini looks similar to its parent with the exception of size. The 2" to 21/2" elongated leaves are medium green with a wide creamy-white border and have decent substance. The clump is topped with dark lavender flowers in perfect scale (about 10" scapes) midsummer

CRUSADER[M-L] A medium to large hosta with strong character, with its heart shaped dark blue-green leaves framed in irregular narrow creamy white margins and pale lavender flowers. CRUSADER[M-L]

DARKSTAR [M] The clump grows with a perfectly symmetrical shape of narrow blue-green leaves frained with a crisp cream border, some undulating apparent; lavender flowers appear midseason.
Narrow blue leaves edged in cream, forming a full, arching clump. Lavender flowers.

DICK WARD [M/L] (Hatfield) This sport of H. 'Zounds' has remained very popular...the center of the large leaf is bright gold framed with a dark green margin and the plant exhibits heavy substance and desirable corrugation. Clump is topped with pale lavender flowers midsummer and, though slow, eventually becomes an impressive specimen

DREAMWEAVER [L] (Ruetenik/Walek) Sport of H. 'Great Expectations'...leaves have a very wide blue-green margin and a yellow center that is only 2-3" wide. Leaves are quite round with heavy corrugation and slightly cupped. The clump is topped with white flowers. In many cooler climates H. 'Great Expectations' grows very slow but H. 'Dream Weaver' has proven vigor and seems to grow well in all climates

FAIRMAIDEN[S] This is one of the best of the recent hosta introductions and one that seems to be finding its way into most home gardens. This sport of H. 'Candy Hearts' via H. 'Amber Maiden' makes an 18" wide clump of grey-green, heart-shaped leaves, each surrounded by a dramatic white margin. These clumps, great for a border in a small garden, are topped with light lavender flowers in early summer.

FASCINATOR [M] Chartreuse to yellow with a muted green 1" margin. Margin appears later in season. Lavender flowers.
A golden-yellow leaf with a muted green margin; good substance.
Rugose. Rare & nice.

FEATHER BOA [S] Small lance shaped yellow leaves with wavy margins. Flowers bell shaped almost white striped purple on tall stems. Good edging plant.

FIRE & ICE [M] (Hansen & Shady Oaks Nursery) The reverse of H. 'Patriot'...thick leaves have pure white centers and dark green margins. Lavender flowers on white scapes and seed pods are also white. A wonderful and bright addition to any shady garden

FOOLS GOLD [M] Green leaves with a yellow edge which fades to green as the season progresses.  Lavender flowers.  Large mound size at maturity.

FRIED BANNANAS [L] (Solberg) The all-gold sport of H. 'Guacamole'...a fast grower with beautiful large near-white fragrant flowers in August. This large mound boasts beautiful glossy gold leaves and is one of the most asked for hostas here at the nursery

GAIJIN[mini] Narrow shiny dark green leaves with a thin yellow gold edge.  Lavender flowers.  Mini mound size at maturity.

GUACAMOLE [L] GUACAMOLE [L] (Solberg) This outstanding plant does best if planted in a sunnier location...forms a large open mound of gold leaves with dark green margins by the end of the season (in cooler climates it often doesn't show good variegation until late May). Topped with very large fragrant near-white to lavender flowers in August and September and seems to be a good grower in all areas

GAURDIAN ANGEL [M/L] (Thompson) The variegated sport of H. 'Blue Angel'...a white-centered leaf early in the spring grows progressively greener and ends with a medium green center and blue border. In time this plant should be a huge clump of blue foliage and will be topped with white flowers. In cooler climates the distinct variegation holds well into the season and makes for a very desirable specimen

GOLD EDGER [S] Gold Edger is ideal for edging or a ground cover because of its compact habit. It forms a dense mound with golden foliage and lavender flowers.

GOLDEN SCEPTOR[L] A very attractive specimen type hosta that forms a beautiful, large upright golden clump.

HADSPEN HERON [S] - Five inch leaves. Very blue. Heavy texture. White flowers in July.

HONEYSONG [M] The cultivar, 'Honeysong' is a medium, spreading perennial with heart shaped, puckered leaves with a cream edge. Bell shaped, lavender flowers on straight, bare 20 inch stems in the medseason. Hardy perennials for shaded gardens with large, bold leaves often marked with contrasting colors. Leaves range in shape from round to lance-shaped, and colors can be yellow to green to blue, often with white, yellow or green marginal markings.

ISLAND CHARM [S] A small hosta perfect for edging. Flat, broadly ovate leaves have dark green margins with some jetting into the white centers. (Centers are pale yellow in very low light.  Pale purple, streaked flowers on reddish pink scapes followed by pink seedpods.

KABITAN [S] This cultivar has lance-shaped, thin, bright yellow leaves, with rippled, dark green margins. In late summer, bears deep violet flowers. Hardy perennials for shaded gardens with large, bold leaves often marked with contrasting colors. Leaves range in shape from round to lance-shaped, and colors can be yellow to green to blue, often with white, yellow or green marginal markings. Lavender or white flowers grow on stalks in early summer.

KALEIDOSCOPE [S] blue-green leaves surrounded by very nice uneven wide white margins that often streak to the centre.

KINKAKU [L] This import from Japan is sure to brighten the woodland garden. From the same region of Japan that brought us H. montana 'Cho Ko Nishiki', comes a selection with brilliant golden leaves, surrounded by a narrow dark green border. H. 'Kinkaku' will eventually make a spectacular 3' wide clump, topped in summer by 4' spikes of light lavender flowers.

LAST DANCE [M] A new sport of H. 'Summer Music' with nicely shaped leaves that are dark green with a wide streaky yellow margin and have good substance.  Pale lavender flowers.

LITTLE SUNSPOT [S] This recent introduction from Briggs Nursery is being touted as one of the finest new small hostas to hit the market in years. This sport from H. 'Little Aurora' is composed of bright golden, heart-shaped leaves, each surrounded by a vivid, dark green border. As the plant matures, the border widens and becomes even darker. This is the reverse variegation pattern of the ever popular H. 'Sultana'. In early summer, the 1' wide clumps are topped with near-white flowers on 12" scapes.

LOVE PAT [M] Despite the flood of new introductions, Hosta 'Love Pat' is still hard to beat. This truly great hosta makes a 3' wide clump of round, intensely corrugated, deep blue foliage...good even in the upper South! This slow, but easy-to-grow hosta is topped with nice stalks of white flowers in early summer.

MACK THE KNIFE [mini] (Dishon) A superior hosta that warrants a place in any garden...magnificent miniature with very thick green leaves that have an unusual "orange" colored margin (we know of no other hosta with this color). The elongated leaves are slightly twisted and exhibit a rippled edge. Topped with lavender flowers in July

MARILYN MONROE [S] Hosta 'Marilyn Monroe' is a vigorous seedling selection from open pollinated Hosta rupifraga 'Urajiro' seed that the late Jim Hawes acquired from Japan. Hosta 'Marilyn Monroe' makes a 2' wide clump, composed of red petioles holding the medium-size, wavy-edged, grey-green leaves so that you get a good glimpse of the dramatic, waxy-white backs.

MAUI BUTTERCUPS [S/M] (Vaughn) A sturdy hosta that is great to look at...leathery yellow leaves are rounded, cupped and heavily puckered. Violet flowers on 18" scapes top the small but elegant clump

MEDUSA[Mini-S] One of the favorites of the popular class of miniature hostas is Roy Herold's intriguing 'Medusa'. Twelve inch wide clumps feature long wavy yellow leaves edged with a green margin. Lavender flowers top the clump in early summer. Great for the shady rock garden. MEDUSA[Mini-S]

MONTANA AUREA MARGINATA [L] Deeply veined, green leaves with creamy-yellow edges. Awesome texture with thick leaves. A must have!

Beautiful bright gold leaves with white margins, deeply veined but with a smooth, velvety texture and sheen. Lavender flowers. A seedling of August Moon, clear yellow-gold leaves with white edges, smooth texture.

NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS[M] This is one stunningly beautiful hosta! If you want to make visitors stop in their tracks and drop to their knees, here is the hosta for you. The 8" long x 3" wide leaves on this vigorous grower (sport of H. 'White Christmas') have a clear white center surrounded by a dark green border. In very late summer, the old foliage turns solid green, allowing more food to be produced for the upcoming season. The 30" wide clumps are topped with lavender flowers on 30" scapes in early summer. NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS[M]

ON STAGE [L] A late emerging, very color sport of H. Montana. Lustrous gold center and dazzling, irregular, jagged green margin. Color holds best if grown in more light. If grown in heavy shade the gold center may tend to become more green.

PATHFINDER [M] (Briggs Nursery) From Briggs Nursery in Olympia, WA...a sport of H. 'Francee' that has very thick leaves (definitely a tetraploid) with creamy-white centers that are speckled green and a wide slightly rippled, matching dark green margin. The leaves are somewhat shiny, lightly corrugated and quite round but come to a point. The pale purple flowers are held on white scapes with purple spots and appear midseason. This plant seems to exhibit tremendous vigor for a hosta with as much white in the leaf. Recommend growing it in a location that gets several hours of morning sun

PATRIOT [M] (Machen) Deep forest green leaves have extremely wide and almost pure-white borders on leaves that are slightly cupped downward...tremendous substance and should be in every hosta garden. Light lavender flowers

PILGRIM [S] (Rasmussen/Malloy) Heart-shaped grayish-green leaf has a wide irregular creamy-white margin and good substance. Topped with lavender flowers

The leaf center has some streaking of yellow and white. Thick substance. Masses of densely packed white flowers in midsummer. Excellent slug resistance.

SAGAE [L] (Watanabe) An outstanding hosta in every way with beautiful blue-green leaves framed in a yellow to cream border that are held upright and leave plenty of room for planting smaller jewels around it. This gentle giant topped with lavender flowers midseason is a must for any garden

SEA FIRE [M] Radiant gold in spring, green in summer. Intense yellow foliage early in the spring, fading to chartreuse in summer; lav. flwrs. One of the brightest gold leaves I have seen, especially in the spring, when it is a real standout. The leaves darken a bit to greenish gold in the summer. Lavender flowers. Intense light golden-yellow leaves emerge with red petioles in spring, becoming medium green in August. Deep lavender flowers and dark reddish green scapes in mid-summer. Gold leaves with red petiole stems in spring; changes to medium green by mid summer. Lavendar flowers in August; new gold leaves in late summer.

SHERBORNE PROFUSION [M] The cultivar, 'Sherborne Profusion' is a small perennial with heart shaped, blue-green leaves. Bell shaped, lavender flowers bloom on straight, bare 20 inch stems in the midseason. Wonderful contrast when planted with small-leaved plants, adding texture to the landscape.

Olive-green leaves w/heavy texture, upright; reddish scapes & flowers. An upright vase-shaped plant with heavy textured dark olive green leaves. Both the petioles and flower scapes are dark purple. WARWICK DELIGHT [S] This new gem from Gil Jones is one of the best white centered dwarf hostas that we have grown. Each thick substanced leaf has a glossy cream center surrounded by a narrow, light green edge, which in turn is surrounded by a very wide dark green border. This H. nakaiana x H. 'Breeder's Choice' cross is a vigorous grower that only grows to 12" in width. The stunning clumps are topped with light purple flowers in early summer.

This fast-growing hybrid from Jim Wilkins makes a 3' wide clump of shiny, blue-green foliage surrounded by a very wide, rippled, golden margin. The long, tapering leaves give a unique cascading appearance to the clump. In late summer, the clumps are topped with 20" scapes of lavender flowers.
